PROGRAMMES STRATEGY

The Ogogo Foundation’s programs will address the shortfalls and inequalities in education in Obanliku, Cross River State, and Nigeria. Following intensive research and firsthand understudy of the situation, we have identified the community’s most important needs which align with our mission to provide and support quality education through which we hope to empower individuals and the community for sustained development.

The major focus of our programmes are as follows.

1. Scholarships and Financial Aid

The objective of this program and its activities will be to support school children from low-income families with school fees, school stationaries, school uniforms, and major certificates such as WAEC and NECO registration fees

Expected Outcome: It is hoped that this program will yield immediate results in the improvement of academic performance and a reduction of dropout rates arising from financial challenges

2. Vocational Training and Youth Empowerment

This program aims to prepare and equip young people with practical knowledge and sellable skills that will make them self-reliant and possibly own their businesses and startups. To achieve this goal, we plan to establish a vocational training center that will cater to ICT and tech-related skills, a fashion designing hub, and a carpentry and upholstery firm amongst others.

Expected Outcome: This program will create economic opportunities for the teeming youth population, bring about a reduction in the high rate of unemployment, and the creation of local businesses which will ultimately bring about community development.

3. School Infrastructure Development

This program will aim to build, rehabilitate, and equip schools through activities such as the construction of new classroom blocks, remodeling and upgrading of existing schools, and provision of essential learning facilities such as desks, and blackboards. We will also carry out the installation of clean water and sanitary facilities within the school environment.

Expected Outcomes: Improved access to quality learning environments, increased school attendance, and enhanced student performance.

4. Educational Awareness, Symposiums and Advocacy Campaigns

This program will involve raising awareness about the pivotal role education plays in the development of the community and the need for the community to support educational initiatives. This program will be carried out through community outreach programs and town hall meetings. The foundation will also engage with traditional rulers, parents, and local opinion influencers.

Expected Outcomes: Increased community involvement in education, greater emphasis on school attendance, and overall societal support for children’s education.

5. Teacher Capacity Training and Professional Development

Qualified and adequately trained teachers are essential for the quality education of children. The Foundation in collaboration with appropriate authorities intends to enhance the quality of teaching by building and enhancing the capacity of teachers through organizing workshops and seminars focused on modern teaching methods and also partnering with educational institutions for teacher certification and continuous development programs

Expected Outcomes: Improved teaching quality, higher student engagement, and better educational outcomes.

Catchment area of focus for programs

In the next 5 years, the foundation will focus its activities in Obanliku LGA and Northern part of Cross River with plans to expand the programs to other underserved communities in all of Cross River State. Schools in rural areas and hard-to-reach villages will be prioritized to ensure equitable access to educational opportunities.
